Manipur, Jan. 13 — IMPHAL| Jan 13

The Civil Society Coalition on Human Rights in Manipur and UN (CSCHR Manipur) has announced that it has submitted a report entitled, “Broken Promises and Abdicated Obligations” on the status of human rights in Manipur to the UN Human Rights Council for consideration during the examination of India in the third Universal Periodic Review on the May 4, 2017.

The report was submitted to the Council on September 22, 2016.

The report focused on the continuous like civil and political rights violations such as denial of rights to self determination; security laws/ apparatus and militarisation; gross violations under de facto state of emergency; impact of militarisation; movement for a plebiscite; political prisoners, indigenous peoples and development aggression, demographic challenge and resistance, said Dr Laifungbam Debabrata Roy, Convenor CSCHR Manipur while launching the submitted report during a press conference at Manipur Press Club today.
